Hellow. I've been using winamp for a few months, but over the last couple of days, it's been playing 2 or 3 songs and then coming up with a box that says "The program is not responding". Even though I close the program and start again, it still does the same thing. Does anyone know why this might be? Thank you.

The window that let us know for new versions of winamp is not accessible and when it appears it doesn't seam to be a way to close the window or winamp itself. This might be the reason why your winamp is not responding.
I would suggest that you uninstall it and download and install the new version. During installation you will have to choose the classick skim for better accessibility. Also you can go to prefference by pressing control+p and uncheck the checkbox saying check for updates at startup.
I hope you found some of it usefull.

Oh Gosh you dont know how much of a life saver you are! I hate the winamp update thing! Every time that comes up i have to go to the task manager and end the program that way, and i hate it! i am going to try that!

Where exactly is the check box? I looked through the preferences, but I don't see it.

I can't remember, but it might be on there when you first install it, or if you go through the control panel, you can stop all automatic updates.

i've beena winamp user, if you let it wait for a second jaws can read that update box. click the update link and it's pretty much gone for then because it thinks you're getting the new version

that check box is in general preferences, also drm crashes winamp sometimes and loves to take out jaws with it on my laptop, to fix, alt shift f4 that will kill it off after hitting the end now button.

I've uninstalled winamp, just to download it again now.

Ok, I unchecked that update checkbox so that doesn't bother me anymore. Now it seems to want to look up album art when I open it, and that makes the song take longer to play, what do I do to fix that?

it would have been best to leaveit alone. wimamp works best when you don't tamper with settings. and uninstalling is not needed between upgrades

ok so the latest version of winamp freezes my whole machine. I am not sure why but when I go to play a song it plays but shuts everything else away so I can not move around anymore. When the song is over it is still stuck. any suggestions?
